Review of Alessi Anna G. Corkscrew

I first saw the Anna G. corkscrew on display at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and was really impressed. When I ordered my own, I loved the looks of the matt black finish against the gleaming chrome.I found that the piece worked well at extracting corks from my wine bottles, but that is where the recommendation ends.Once the cork is on the screw, it is stuck and is extremely difficult to remove.Every time that I have used it, I have needed to go to my garage and get a pair of strong pliers to twist the cork off of the screw. The extreme difficulty of use has made Anna G. an interesting and artistic addition to my kitchen, however it is no longer used for opening wine bottles. My old, $2 corkscrew does an infitiely better job.
