Review of Cuisinart Winepro Corkscrew

Despite the good name and elegant looks, this is probably NOT the corkscrew you're looking for.Two major design flaws:1) the black plastic "legs" that settle astride the bottle neck easily flex outward and slip down (so you need to grip the black plastic to force it against the neck of the bottle while pulling up with the other hand), and 2) pulling up on the handle is an awkward motion and further, it takes quite a lot of force to extract some corks. The mechanical advantage of the single lever is poor; not much easier trying to yank out a cork with just a simple twist-in corkscrew. But with this one, instead of pulling straight, the device requires that you pull the single handle up on a curved path, which can hurt your wrist while squeezing the black plastic with the other hand.Lousy design. Instead, get a "double wing" corkscrew, because that system uses a downward action that forces the top of the open against the top of the bottle keeping it seated in place as the cork is pulled up by lever action.More generally, I'd shy away from any corkscrews that have the two plastic legs that fit down astride the bottle neck as they easily flex outward.Instead opt for one with a metal (not plastic) ring that fits snugly on the top of the bottle.Amazon was very courteous in allowing me to return this one.Save yourself the effort of having to return it, and get one with two levers that push downward.
