Review of Screwpull Classic Table Corkscrew and Foil Cutter Gift Set, Black

I was given this screw pull about 15 yrs ago as a gift from its company rep. It's opened hundreds of bottles over those years and still going strong. I purchased this one as a gift.

Product Description
Just as there's nothing better than a bottle of wine at the beach, cabin, or campground; there's nothing worse than being stuck without a corkscrew. The table corkscrew from Screwpull is not only compact and lightweight; it's a sophisticated tool friends will covet. Not only does this clever corkscrew take the work out of cork removal for effortless bottle opening, it now automatically twists the cork off the screw as well. To open, simply pull the handle and the durable Teflon screw drives precisely into the cork's center. Push lightly the other way and the cork climbs effortlessly out of the bottle. Then, while holding the corkscrew panels (and not the cork); pull the handle again and--voila, the device pushes the cork off the screw unscathed! Pinch down on the sides to keep the cork from falling off, and reinsert it with the same ease. Finally, fold up the corkscrew and pack it away.

Review of Oxo Good Grips Corkscrew

I have never used a better corkscrew.Simply set it on the bottle.Press down (gently) while turning.Keep turning until the cork is out.Turn backwards and the cork pops out of the tool.

You will not have troublewith getting your corkscrew cocked or skewed (going into the cork crooked). You will not have trouble getting the cork off the corkscrew. You don'thave to pull on anything. Occasionally you find an odd extra long cork--youmight have to gently pull it out the last little bit.

It's the ergonomic!

Product Description
Forget all that wiggling and pulling! Simply turn the soft, comfortable knob to lower the non-stick screw into the cork, and then continue turning to lift the cork from the bottle. Works on any size bottle.

Review of Picnic Time Rhapsody Three Bottle Wine Case with Corkscrew

Picnic Time Rhapsody Three Bottle Wine Case with CorkscrewWE bought this for a second marriage for a couple who has everything. As they travel frequently and love fine wines, we thought this would be perfect! THEY loved it, especially living in New Jersey where not many restaurants have liquor licenses, they bring their own wines. IT is a gorgeous rich mahogany color, and looks like REAL leather, not leatherette. THE brass hardware is sturdy and looks very elegant. THE three bottle format is excellent for a white, red, and a sparkling. The wine opener stores easily under the lid. IT was a hit as a gift. I am thinking about buying one for ourselves. EXCELLENT value!

Review of Peugeot 200169 Elis Electric Corkscrew

Struggling with the other types of openers wasn't really a problem but my wife found them difficult, so this was a present.
Using it is a piece of cake!
Cut off the foil - hold the opener on top with one hand and the bottle with the other and press the rocker switch.
Whirrrr until it stops ... and you will find that the cork is completely off!
OK, now for the "hard" part - getting rid of the cork. Reverse the rocker switch and whirr (aim at the trash can) and the cork "pop"s out into the trash.
Pour, sit back and savor the wine.
Quick and easy!
I drink a lot more wine now!
I have the typical corkscrew, the corkscrew where you turn the center screw and the handles come up and you lever them down to pull the cork, and the restaurant style that levers the cork out, the rabbit style, the two flat prong style, and have tried and tossed the air pump type... and this beats the others hands down.
More expensive, but if you can afford it and drink a lot of wine (and we are drinking more now) then it is well worth the cost.
BTW - It has opened 12 to 15 bottles on the first overnight charge and is still going strong.
A great product, and if you haven't guessed - I recommend it! And hey, I'll even drink to it!

Review of The Rabbit Corkscrew

The Rabbit CorkscrewI'd give zero stars if it was an option. Don't waste your time on this company.

My first Rabbit had a plastic handle. When it broke after several years of use, I replaced it with a metal handle Rabbit because it had 10-year warrantee.(I think the first one had a 2-year warrantee.)

The new Rabbit malfunctioned.A mission-critical piece of rubber tore, making the Rabbit useless.I sent the Rabbit to Metrokane per the package instructions.(I paid the postage and also had to enclose a check to cover *their* mailing costs.)

A week or so later, my Rabbit was returned to me without any repairs.Their note said that they couldn't find anything wrong with the thing.I phoned Metrokane to complain. They said that the rubber was not covered by the warrantee. I was told to get rubber glue to fix the thing.I checked the warrantee.Nowhere does it say that certain parts are not covered. Finally they agreed to replace it.

The replacement was defective. The Metrokane rep. copped an attitude when I complained, saying that I was probably using it incorrectly.(Remember, I'd owned a Rabbit and had used it for years, so I'm sure I knew how to use it.)

The company wouldn't send another Rabbit and I refused to spend more money to return the second defective product.I'm using a $10 knock-off now.It works every time.

Product Description
The original - uncorks bottles in seconds. The Rabbit Corkscrew from Metrokane is quick like a bunny! It will pull a wine cork in 3 seconds flat. After uncorking, the Rabbit Corkscrew quickly and easily ejects the cork from the worm. The ergonomic design with black soft rubber grip pads puts an end to awkward wine bottle opening. Used by professionals. Includes foil cutter, extra worm and presentation box. Carries a 10-year manufacturers warranty. Also available in Black. This corkscrew is synthetic cork friendly

Review of Concorde Lever Style Corkscrew Set- Black

But that wouldn't be any quicker.I saw this corkscrew demonstrated on America's Test Kitchen, and I couldn't believe how quickly and easily it worked.I got one for my wife, and sure enough, it really is that easy.Just push the lever down and pull the lever back up; that's all there is to it.I don't know why they still manufacture the other kinds of corkscrews; this one renders them all obsolete.I know you can spend over $100 on designs similar to this one, but I don't know why anyone would do that since this one works so well.

There is a warning that you shouldn't use this with synthetic corks. We have ignored that warning on many occasions now (who uses real corks anymore?) and have not had any trouble.

Review of Oxo Good Grips Zinc Winged Corkscrew

The corkscrew slid out of the handle the very first time I used it. It appeared to only be glued in. Not at all what I expect from Oxo.

Review of Dalla Piazza Lustro Waiter Corkscrew #D1016

It's always a scary thing uncorking - It feels like the lever is going to slip off the bottle and give you a nasty injury. The rivet that holds the lever also fell out (which I replaced by sticking a nail through it). The beer bottle opener doesn't work on my first try either. It only goes half way up on the first try. Then the magnet doesn't hold the opened cap - I think b/c the cap is too bent. Also, it's pretty heavy/clunky.

Review of Fox Run Argyle Acrylic Ice Bucket Set w/Corkscrew & Stopper, Clear Pink

This is really big & although it can be used as an ice bucket, it also makes a gorgeous centerpiece by filling it with glass balls, frosted fruit or pine cones. It's also beautiful filled with seashells or even as catchall in the bath for soaps, lotions, and bubble bath items. The corkscrew fits great in a pocket in a purse, backpack, or picnic basket. The bottle stopper makes a great pull chain decoration for ceiling fan lights. All in all, this is a great deal for anyone with an imagination and likes elegant, yet modern, pink decor....the only negative thing to say is, like most ice buckets, it sweats. With no insulation, it sweats a lot. Just put an elagant towel or placemats under it....then, think outside the bucket and enjoy!

Review of Cilio Superior Corkscrew

For what I paid, it's a great deal. I shopped around for similar ones at brick and mortar stores. The all-metal ones are smoother to operate, but this one's mostly plastic so it takes a little more effort. I've used it at a few of my wine parties and tastings, and it gets noticed.

Product Description
Never again waste good wine with broken cork pieces or fumble with corkscrews that just won't go in straight.A swift up and down movement removes cork from the bottle; when repeated, the cork is released from the opener.Includes extra "worm" and foil cutter. Review of Screwpull Revolutionary Lever Pull with Metal Foil Cutter, Satin

This is by far the best corkscrew I've owned. Other reviews of the same model mention problems if the cork is not removed, but I've not encountered these problems yet, so I give it the full five stars.

The first thing that appeals to me is the beauty of the item. It is like a sculpture. Believe it or not, I love having it just for the pleasure of looking at it when I use it. It even makes me smile when I'm looking for something else and happen upon it by chance.

Second, it has the easiest-to-use action of any corkscrew I've had. I suspect that is because of the length of the lever which probably provides the best leverage avaiable. Its operation is smooth as silk, as is the ejecting action. Also, the manner of placing it on the bottle and squeezing is, in my opinion, easier and more natural than the older "double-wing" method.

If you don't mind spending the money, I recommend this corkscrew without reservation. It is as lovely to use as it is to look at.

Review of Metrokane Houdini Lever Style Corkscrew with Foil Cutter-Velvet Black

If all wine corks were alike, the Metrokane would be perfect. However, many corks are very snug and require a bit more elbow grease when using the Metrokane's lever. These corks cause the small, frail plastic cap that secures the screw to pop off and shoot across the room. After retrieving the cap and re-attaching it ~12 times, I threw the Metrokane into the garbage can.

Review of Metrokane Houdini Lever-style Corkscrew, Blue

I just can't get over how easy this corkscrew is to use.Instead of having to pull the cork from the bottle, you use lever action to do all of the work for you.Since switching from a tradition corkscrew, I haven't had a single cork break or get stuck in the bottle. Also, since you need less of the 'screw' in the cork, I haven't had any cases where the corkscrew went through the entire cork, meaning no little bits of cork in the wine.

The only thing I can think of to improve this product would be some way to secure the two handles for storage. They tend to stick out quite a bit, which takes up a lot of space and since they are spring loaded, if you close them and put them in a drawer they spring out and make getting it out of the drawer a challenge.I solved the problem by simply using a rubber band, but someone clever enough to come up with such an innovative design should be able to solve such a trifling problem.

Review of Chateau Laguiole Aubrac Horn Waiter Style Corkscrew (Brown

Though the corkscrew comes with a "guarantee" for craftsmanship, it turns out they don't honor it.We spent $150 on a chateau laguiole corkscrew from a local wine merchant. We enjoyed it for 4 years of normal in-home use (about 2 times/week), one day recently the corkscrew just broke off while opening a wine bottle. We contacted the merchant and it turns out they stopped carrying this brand for the same reason - customers were returning them broken and the company did not honor any "guarantee".We expected a lot more for the $$ and reputation of the company.

Review of Screwpull Lever Model Elegance Corkscrew

I collect corkscrews. The Elegance is the top of the line for the Screwpull series of corkscrews. It is efficient and looks like a work of art, and makes a great gift.

It comes with a stand, unlike most similar models, and the stand can rest on your shelf or be mounted on the wall. The stand occupies a large footprint on your shelf.

The included Screwpull foil cutter is the best available, but both hands are required to remove it from the stand.

The unit is a bit heavy, even for guys. In combination with the floppy arms, the heaviness makes it somewhat awkward to use. Once positioned, there is no speedier cork removal available; but it requires a bit of arm strength, particularly for a sticky cork. My wife doesn't like it. After the cork has been pulled, it is easily released from the unit

Overall, I believe that the best corkscrew for most people is the Winemaster (by Vacu Vin). It is less cumbersome to use and requires minimal effort. It looks good and has a small footprint on your shelf. Its included foil cutter works very well and can be removed from the unit and replaced with one hand. As with the Elegance, after the cork has been pulled, it is easily released from the unit.

Review of Napa Essentials Lever-Operated Corkscrew

This product is hopeless. The pathetic thing only got used twice, it was difficult to use the first time, the second time I had to pry the cork out manually. No real instructions like, how do you take out the corkscrew to replace it.I have even gone into wine stores to find out if anyone knows how to take it out and it even confuses the experts. Also, where is the company? They just don't seem to have a website for direct comments.Lastly, I found a new home for it: "The Garbage."

Product Description
Look like a world-class sommelier with this remarkable Lever Operated Corkscrew. Just four quick strokes of the lever are all it takes: One down and one up drive the corkscrew into the cork and extract the cork from the bottle; two more strokes - magically release the cork from the worm. No pulling tugging, no unscrewing. No hassle. The secret is an advanced, ergonomically designed, extra-long lever that brings incredible power and controlto every stroke.

I was opening a bottle of wine with a stubborn cork and the wings broke off!The corkscrew has a very nice look and feel, but the large wings taper to a very narrow point at the hinges. And since it is made of a cheap cast metal and not stainless steel, it is very weak at the tapered area.Supposedly has a lifetime warranty, but I have not sent it back yet...

Review of Laguiole Waiter's Corkscrew (Black) - Trudeau

I've always wanted a Laguiole corkscrew ever since I read about the brand's history.I pick upthis corkscrew at extremely good price and was happy about it.Upon inspection of it, I found the made quality to be good and sturdy, but I could not find the "made in france" wording anywhere on the product.I then went to the garbage can and picked up the box and found it to be made in china. There is nothing wrong with product made in China but I will never expect a french brand that takes pride in producing in this local village to outsource to china.

Product Description
The well known Laguiole corkscrew line has been celebrated as one of the finest line of corkscrews ever created and this black horn waiter's corkscrew set is no exception. This genuine Laguiole corkscrew features a bottle opener, serrated blade for cutting foil, a stainless steel grooved spiral for easy wine opening, and of course the trademark Laguiole corkscrew bee on the back. It comes with a protective leatherette case with a magnetic closure and belt clip for professional waiters and comes packed in a wooden box; perfect for gift giving! 5 year warranty. Common Questions: Is this a real Laguiole corkscrew? Yes it is a officially licensed Laguiole product. The common misconception is that Laguiole itself is a manufacturer, it is not. Laguiole is actually a city in France, not a manufacturer. Laguiole just licenses their name and signature Laguiole bee to manufacturers whom meet their strict quality standards. There are actually dozens of manufacturers for Laguiole branded products, many of whom overcharge for the name. There are two main differences between this corkscrew and many of the more expensive Laguiole corkscrews you see elsewhere. 1) This corkscrew set is assembled in China, and much of it is made by machine to keep the cost down while still meeting the strict quality standards set forth by Laguiole.2) This Laguiole corkscrew carrys a 5 year manufacturer warranty, whereas many of the other handmade Laguiole products do not.

Review of Metrokane Deluxe Rabbit with Foilcutter

The Rabbit is very adept at removing a cork from a bottle. It is not as good at removing the cork from the corkscrew. The handle is just a little too short, lacking enough leverage and requiring a strong force at an awkward angle for the final stroke. Worse, it is very easy to smash a finger at the moment the screw fully unwinds from the cork. This releases all resistance so the handle smashes into the main part. You will definitely learn to grasp near the end of the handle to avoid a mean pinch.

The corkscrew rotates as it plunges into the cork during the first stroke. While the screw is rotating all the force of the handle is pushing down on it. The bearing assembly (part of the screw) is just a couple of washers. Because of friction the screw doesn't want to turn, requiring a lot of force at the handle. The bearing is a weak point of the design in my opinion.

After a few months use the friction got worse and it became more and more difficult to use. It took so much force that eventually the screw bent. I had cut it out with a hacksaw.

I ordered a replacement screw and noticed the bearing was dry of any lubrication. Hmmmm. I added a few drops of motor oil. Now the Rabbit flys! It is SO much easier to use. If the cork is old (we like those old bottles) it is practically effortless to uncork the bottle and to uncork the Rabbit. An amazing difference. New, fresh wines with plastic seals are almost as easy to remove.

My suggestion is to put a few drops of a motor oil or machine oil on the bearings. Remove the cap, take out the screw ("worm" in Rabbit land), and get it totally slippery. If you don't have a quart of motor oil handy, use Vaseline or a mineral oil. Don't use a vegetable oil; it will only work for a while before it oxidizes and turns sticky.

Cheers.

Review of Screwpull Lever Model Replacement Screws

We've had a Rabbit Screwpull for over 10 years. In the past couple of years it's been getting harder and harder to pull corks out of wine bottles with our Rabbit. Simply replacing the screw pull part did the trick (and it only took a couple seconds). Now our Rabbit Screwpull is just like new.

Review of Vinotemp VT-CORKSCREW CorkMate Corkscrew Set

I bought this corkscrew in Oct. 2008 and have tried to repair it over and over. It keeps falling apart in different places. I think it is a cheap imitation of a corkscrew I had for several years and gave to friends while they were visiting. Today was the last time I tried to put it back together and it finally went in the trash can. I will buy another one locally in a store, but never anything from this company.

Product Description
Open your wine in style with this professional corkscrew set. Made from heavy-duty zinc alloy, this handy corkscrew set includes a corkscrew stand, foil cutter and one replacement spiral needle.

Review of Oneida Wing Corkscrew

This is an easy to use corkscrew that suffers from one major fault -- the screw is of the closed design. What you want to look for in a good corkscrew (even an inexpensive one) is an open screw design (the Screwpull is the best example of an open screw design). The Oneida model is prone to break or split corks because the screw displaces a large amount of cork as it is forced in.While this model may work well for newer, stiff corks, it will split older, dry corks.Look at other models that use the open screw design and you will be much happier with the results.

Product Description
The ultimate no-nonsense bar implement, this corkscrew is simple to use, quick on the draw, and easy on the hands as well as the eyes. Oneida barware sports a classic look, reflecting the intrinsic aesthetic pleasures that come from fixing a mixed drink with elegant, hand-polished tools of the trade. Accuracy and style are the trademarks of a superior home mixologist, and both are more easily procured with the proper accouterments.

Review of Metrokane Velvet Corkscrew, Black

I love this corkscrew, it works very well. After having used the waiter type for years, this is a fantastic change. Having the foil-cutter built in is a big plus, I don't have to fumble around with a piece on the end like with the waiter or have a seperate piece to keep track of, and it does the job just fine.

It's much simpler and smaller (saves space and is more transportable) than the lever type, which I've also used. And, in my opinion, is more efficient and easier to use. I've also heard complaints that they tend to get more difficult to use over time.

I can't stand the "winged" type either, they are such a pain. The problems that I had with the waiter or winged types were getting them started and making sure that the screw went in staight, having it slip while pulling,or struggling to get a stubborn cork out. I've also had the worm (screw) loosen or break over time with the waiter corkscews. These are not a problems anymore.

It may be more expensive than the more basic types, which may be the way to go if you only open a bottle once a month or less. But it is so worth it if you are opening a bottle a week or more. Every time I use it I'm am amazed by how easily the cork comes out. Looks like this tool will be around in my home for a long time.

Review of Pedrini Black & Satin 6-Inch Basic Corkscrew

I found the Pedrini double lever opener to be a good buy. There are many others which look similar, but look closer. The Pedrini has a true wound-metal screw while many others only give you a die-cast screw. The difference is important as the die-cast style has a thick solid center to the screw, so it must displace more cork while turning thus increasing the effort and the risk of cork splitting. The diecast screw is also not nearly as strong as the wound-metal and can crack and break; it is also heavier. It is a good value, a good manufacturer and a good choice.

Review of Oxo SteeL Winged Corkscrew

I was pretty happy with this wine opener until it snapped off in my bottle of wine. Really, I'm not that strong to be able to do that. It was a defective product.

I took pictures of the thing and threw it away. When I tried to have them replace it, they said you must mail in the broken corkscrew (at your own expense) in order for an exchange. Frankly an additional trip to the post office plus postage isn't worth the hastle of a replacement, which I think OXO is banking on. I offered to send pictures. Customer service was pretty unhelpful. I would not recommend this product to others and will probably avoid buying OXO products in general.

Product Description
The OXO SteeL Winged Corkscrew is perfect for anyone from the wine connoisseur to the casual entertainer. Combining function and elegance, the sleek, brushed stainless steel Corkscrew has a non-stick worm that glides smoothly through all corks and opens all bottles with ease. The soft gripping surfaces on the wings, knob and body provide comfort when removing the cork from the bottle. You'll never lose your foil cutter again since it rests securely inside the knob for storage and can be removed easily when needed. The Winged Corkscrew accommodates all size wine bottles and is dishwasher safe.

Review of Oenophilia Coutale Plus Corkscrew

It took me a while to warm to this waiters corkscrew as I am reasonably adept with a classic waiters corkscrew. The foil cutter works very nicely with a turn of the wrist and the teflon coated corkscrew itself very quickly and easily bores into a cork. This Oenophiliacorkscrew is both sturdily made and very nicely finished and designed.

It differs from a classic corkscrew in that there is a small hook which you need to engage over the bottle lip. You then push down on the handle to open your wine bottle. This process takes a bit of learning and coordination but less so than a classic corkscrew.Overall this is a very nice wine/kitchen gift/gadget which I enjoy using.

Product Description
This Oenophilia Coutale Plus Corkscrew is a radical remake of the traditional waiter's corkscrew. This amazing wine opener features a Teflon-coated spiral for effortless cork extraction, as well as a foilcutter. Just screw the Teflon worm into the bottle, position the boot and gently press the handle down to extract the cork. Makes a great gift or present to yourself.

Review of Metrokane Red V.I.P. Polished "Sterling Model" Rabbit Corkscrew

I found this great Rabbit Corkscrew all in one box(it actually opens on a side hinge ) for my oldest daughter for when she turned 21. We had an "imitation rabbit" given to us 2 years old,and without a great deal of use it fell apart. I had originally purchased the first rabbit from a specialty shop. Realizing my next daughter would soon be 21 I wanted to buy the same. I was dissapointed to find it had only been a special order available over Christmas.
Luckily,I found this one on Amazon. It's even a little better in that the silver plate on the front has a space to engrave a name. I don't really encourage my children to drink by giving them liquor as gifts, but I thought this would be a nice memory for their future dinners. The price ,I think, is a good bargin. Our friends paid more at Sharper Image and it fell apart too. Additionally the box allows you to keep all the extra pieces in one place, not in a kitchen drawer,LOST!

Review of Metrokane VIP Sterling Rabbit Corkscrew with Black Leather Presentation Case

From a design standpoint, this is a very good product. But the documentation is pathetic, and was clearly never tested with new / real users. There is no explanation of how it's supposed to work. That understanding is very helpful:with it, you'll never have trouble, and will marvel at the clever design.Let's get started.

Have a bottle of wine handy on which you've already used the supplied (and very good) little foil cutter to remove the foil over the cork.

Take the unit in your hand and look at the movable parts. The overhead lever that swings outward / downward and then is reversed / brought back over the top - moves the spiral corkscrew up and down.To see this, operate the overhead lever with one hand while holding the clamping "side handles" with the other. When you move the overhead handle the corkscrew rotates.

Why is the corkscrew turning?Because it's forced to do that as it goes through a "guide" (the metal collar with gray plastic center). The gray plastic piece has an internal spiral track that forces the corkscrew to rotate as it passes through.

Here's the critical point:as long as the guide mechanism is locked in place and can't move up or down, the guide forces the corkscrew to rotate when going through.

What if this guide were locked in place on the `down-stroke,' but could move vertically on the `up-stroke'?Then the guide would force the corkscrew to rotate on the way down (so the corkscrew would penetrate the cork), but the guide would stay attached to (and _not_ rotate) the corkscrew on the way up - thus pulling the cork.

When the unit is operated correctly this is exactly what happens. But how?

Look more closely:Before using the Rabbit's `side-handles' to hold the wine bottle neck, the guide is locked in place by two protruding spring-loaded latches and can't move vertically.Try it:it won't budge.(You can actually see these small latches projecting over the top of the guide and keeping it from moving - by looking in the area above and to the far rear of the guide, near the smooth rod.)

On the other hand, when the clamping handles are squeezed onto the neck of a bottle, these latches above the guide _retract_, releasing their hold on the guide so it can move upward.

Do this now:Take your bottle of wine and, with the overhead lever rotated to its fully outward / downward position, place the guide directly over the cork and grip the neck of the bottle _firmly_ with the clamping side handles.

Look at the latches described above:they have retracted, and no longer restrain the guide from moving upward. This has no effect during the down-stroke / cork penetration phase, since the guide is already as low as it can go.Because the guide can't move, it forces the corkscrew to rotate when you operate the overhead lever - thus penetrating the cork.Perform this down-stroke.

Now watch what happens when the overhead lever is pulled back to withdraw the cork (while you at the same time continue to grip the bottle neck firmly with the side levers).Because the guide can now move vertically with the corkscrew, it imposes no rotation on the corkscrew. The corkscrew stays inside the cork as the overhead lever is moved outward / downward, and the cork is extracted.Do it.You now have the cork out of the bottle, suspended above the bottle neck, and are still gripping the side handles around the bottle neck.

Release your hold on the side handles and move the Rabbit away from the bottle. The cork is still attached to the corkscrew.Re-grip the side handles with one hand and once again operate the overhead lever, bringing it all the way back to its fully closed position again (as if you were on the original down-stroke into the cork).

As you get to the very end of the stroke, you will feel resistance and will hear a click:the latches have snapped back into place over the top of the guide, locking it in place. The guide is once again `captured' - and cannot move vertically. The cork is still attached to the corkscrew.

Finally, move the overhead lever back yet again to its fully open position (as if pulling the cork from the bottle). This time the latches _don't_ retract (because you're not using the side handles to grip the bottle neck) - so the latches again keep the guide from moving, and this forces the corkscrew to rotate `in reverse' as it passes upward through the guide. The corkscrew backs out of the cork and the cork drops off.It takes all of a few seconds once you get the hang of it.

Understanding the operating principles should help.None of this is well explained (or, indeed, explained at all) in the almost non-existent documentation.

Review of Laguiole Corkscrew Rosewood with Case

Best corkscrew I ever had. Great stuff from a wine lover!!

Product Description
The well known Laguiole corkscrew line has been celebrated as one of the finest line of corkscrews ever created and this rosewood set is no exception. This genuine Laguiole waiter's corkscrew features a bottle opener, serrated blade for cutting foil, a stainless steel grooved spiral for easy wine opening, and of course the trademark Laguiole corkscrew bee on the back.

Review of Cuisinart Wing Corkscrew, Pink

I bought this as a housewarming gift for someone. As with all Cuisinart items, the quality is top-notch. That it's also pink (with a portion of the proceeds going towards Breast Cancer Research) prompted me to buy. In use it's similar to other "winged" corkscrews of similar construction. This is heavy and all metal of a very robust design.
